Phase 2August – October 2025
Building Official Partnerships
From August to September 2025, the SULAM Committee focused on strengthening and formalising its relationship with the Mah Meri community. A series of discussions and engagement sessions were conducted to better understand the community's needs, expectations and priorities. These discussions also provided an opportunity for both parties to explore suitable areas of collaboration, establish shared objectives and develop plans for sustainable community-based projects.
Throughout the planning process, the SULAM Committee maintained close communication with representatives of the Mah Meri community. Detailed discussions were held regarding the scope of the partnership, the responsibilities of each party, proposed student involvement, cultural preservation activities and future community-development initiatives. All arrangements, documentation and agreements were carefully coordinated to ensure that the collaboration would be respectful, meaningful and beneficial to both the community of Mah Meri people and Sunway College.
Following the successful discussions and mutual agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 30 October 2025. The memorandum formalised a one-year collaboration through which the Mah Meri community was officially adopted under SULAM, Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), Sunway College. The signing marked an important milestone in establishing a structured and long-term partnership centred on cultural preservation, knowledge sharing, student engagement and community empowerment.
The entire process was completed smoothly through strong cooperation, transparent communication and mutual understanding between all parties. The agreement provided a clear foundation for future programmes and ensured that upcoming initiatives would be planned and implemented collaboratively, with the interests, traditions and needs of the Mah Meri community placed at the centre of the partnership.
