Sunway College KL
A student-led archive of service, storytelling, and community partnership across a year of action.
Project Overview
The Sunway SULAM 2025 Digital Achievement project at Sunway College transforms student community service activities into a modern, mobile-friendly digital archive. It highlights key 2025 initiatives, including educational talks at Sunway Lagoon, while promoting sustainability awareness and long-term community impact.
Our Roadmap
Four phases shaped the archive: fundraising, planning, community assistance, and a final celebration that turned service into shared memory.
May - July
Raised roughly RM8,000 to RM9,000 through durian sales and community effort, culminating in a cultural event with food, craft activities, games, and community sharing.
August - October
Built a pilot survey, refined the questions through meetings, and prepared the project for broader community engagement before the next phase.
November
Ran a survey with 80 participants, distributed 100+ rice packages, and shared school items including stationery, laptops, and learning materials.
December
Brought more than 120 participants together for a motivational talk, sponsored meals, student-led games, and a memorable visit to Sunway Lagoon.
Key Moments
From May to June, the team had only raised about RM2,000. By the end of June, they decided to continue selling durian to reach their target of RM10,000. On July 15 and 16, the durian sales started again and helped them raise around RM4,000 to RM5,000 more. Although the team did not hit the full target, they collected around RM8,000 to RM9,000 in total and successfully delivered a cultural event featuring food booths, craft activities, fashion displays, traditional games, and community sharing.
From August to September, the team worked together to create survey questions as a pilot test. Before November, they held meetings to review and filter the questions in order to finalize the survey and prepare for a more meaningful field engagement phase.
On 1 November, a survey was conducted with 80 participants. From October to December, the team also received many sponsorships and prepared more than 100 packages of rice, each containing 5 kg. Community members who completed the survey received a rice package, while students and families also received stationery, laptops, coloured pencils, and other learning materials.
The final event took place on 18 December. Sunway Lagoon fully sponsored more than 120 tickets for participants. The day included a motivational talk, breakfast sponsored by VU students from Group 5, lunch sponsored by Nippon Sushi from VU Group 6, and games organized by DBA students from Group 3 before the participants visited Sunway Lagoon. Special thanks were given to photographers Rahul Andrew and Chong Hao Sheng as well as the Sunway Lagoon team.
