Fundraising & Cultural Celebration

Between May and June 2025, the team raised approximately RM2,000 through its initial fundraising activities. To strengthen the campaign and move closer to the RM10,000 target, the team decided to continue its durian sales initiative. The sales resumed on 15 and 16 July, generating an additional RM4,000 to RM5,000. Although the full fundraising target was not achieved, the team successfully raised approximately RM8,000 to RM9,000 in total, reflecting the dedication, teamwork and continued support of everyone involved.

The phase concluded successfully on 24 July 2025 with an event titled "To the Living Traditions: A Journey Through Orang Asli Arts, Crafts and Wisdom Exhibition." Members of the Mah Meri community attended the event and personally introduced visitors to their rich cultural heritage, traditional knowledge and ways of life. The exhibition featured traditional food booths, arts and crafts activities, cultural fashion displays, traditional games, and meaningful community-sharing sessions.

Students from various programmes, including the Diploma in Business Administration (DBA), Diploma in Fashion Design Technology (DFDT), Diploma in Information Technology (DIIT), as well as students from Sunway Velocity, actively contributed to the success of the event. They managed exhibition booths, supported event operations, and coordinated activities to ensure the programme ran smoothly. Students also organised a fashion show featuring Mah Meri traditional attire, providing visitors with a more engaging and visual understanding of the community's cultural identity, craftsmanship and heritage.

Through the collaboration between the Mah Meri community, students, and organisers, the event created an important platform for cultural exchange and experiential learning. It strengthened students' teamwork, communication, event-management, and community-engagement skills while promoting greater awareness, appreciation and respect for Mah Meri traditions among students, staff and visitors.
